Why Osteopathy?

Want to know more about how Osteo Clinic and Cheri can help with your injury and relieve pain with osteopathic treatments and western acupuncture.

Why do you practice osteopathy?

For me, Osteopathy provides exciting and new challenges on a daily basis. The complexity of the human body means that each client who walks through the door is different and osteopathy is adaptable enough to allow me to individualise each treatment to suit my clients’ needs. This holistic approach helps to address the underlying cause of my clients’ symptoms as quickly as possible.

Is osteopathy the right treatment for me?

Cheri will typically use a range of structural treatment techniques (stretching, soft tissue massage, joint articulation and mobilisation) during treatment and can also incorporate gentle functional techniques or acupuncture, depending on the client’s requirements. She enjoys working alongside them to address activities of daily living, providing advice and exercises to enhance and retained the benefits from treatment.

As an osteopath, Cheri can assist with a large variety of problems relating to the musculoskeletal system including your bones, muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons. Get in touch or book your appointment for a full assessment to and find out how osteopath can specifically help you.

Where are you based?

Currently Cheri is working from the Peace and Performance clinic in Albany. Cheri is also working on the Hibiscus Coast, please contact her directly for more information.

Cheri has had a strong presence as an Osteopath on the Hibiscus coast and Albany over the past 5 years. This has allowed her to build a strong referral network with other health care professionals and gives her the ability to collaborate to provide her clients with the best possible care and advice.

Cheri and her partner have chosen to call Stanmore bay home as they love being slightly away from the city and being part of a smaller community. Cheri has lived on the Hibiscus Coast since a child and loves being so close to the sea. Prior to becoming an osteopath Cheri was heavily involved in learn to swim teaching and competition level coaching. With over 10 years experience she feels its an excellent way to build fitness and maintain strength to prevent injury re-occurrences.

Are you a registered practitioner?

Cheri is registered to practice in New Zealand by the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand and is ACC registered. For more details about the council and the requirements an Osteopath must meet in order to become registered please visit the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand online.

How long does it take to get better?

The answer to this will vary depending on your symptoms, diagnosis, ability to function, age and many other factors. Generally clients will require between four to eight treatments. If your compliant is relatively straight forward you may be OK with either one or two treatments and if your injury is serious you may require more. This is very dependant on your current situation, please contact Cheri if you have questions about your recovery time frame.

Will I be sore after treatment?

Potentially. It is very normal to either feel little bit worse or feel discomfort in other areas short term (12-48 hours after treatment) while your body is adjusting to the changes that have happened with treatment. Cheri tries to reduce the severity of her clients symptoms after treatment by adapting her approach to make any post treatment soreness as minimal as possible.

Testimonials

May – I have been feeling terrific the last two days with no pain in my leg from the sciatica. Cheri really did a great job and the best ever treatment I have had for this problem which goes back to 1996. I’m no longer taking any medication for the pain! Many thanks for all your wisdom and skill in my treatment.

July – Cheri, just letting you know that since you did that miracle work on me back in May I have had no reoccurrence of any sciatica problems whatsoever and have been feeling totally normal ever since. Whatever that magic formula was please don’t forget it!! I’m much in appreciation of your wonderful skill.

I have seen Cheri for my low back pain and other aliments since 2014 and she has been an amazing help at keeping my pain under control. Cheri’s professionalism, knowledge and friendliness always makes me feel comfortable and welcome. I would highly recommend Cheri.

Sam

I have been a patient of Cheri’s for a number of years now, and during that time I have suffered intermittently from migraines, lower back pain, and neck issues. I have received treatments from Cheri including osteopathy, acupuncture, cupping and massage. Along with advice and assistance on diet, posture and magnesium supplements.

Cheri is always warm, friendly and professional and always been very accommodating seeing me on very short notice, going above and beyond to help me – when other practitioners would have told me no appointments were available and I would have had to wait for days for chronic pain relief.

I have referred family, including my Mum, partner, friends and co-workers as I know they are in good hands.
